Turning Points and the community need VOLUNTEERS to serve as Census Takers for the Point-In-Time

Turning Points and the community need VOLUNTEERS to serve as Census Takers for the Point-In-Time.

The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness. The annual PIT count is essential for tracking progress, identifying community needs to end homelessness, and applying for homeless-related funding.

We are excited about providing new digital tools this year and hope you will be able to support this essential project.

This year the Point-in-Time will be conducted the week of Monday, January 29th – Saturday, February 3rd

  • The time commitment is entirely flexible and you can volunteer as little as 2 hours during the week
  • Surveys are conducted in teams at various safe locations throughout the community (shared sometime after registration)
  • New volunteers are paired with experienced volunteers who have conducted the surveys in previous years
  • Evening and weekend shifts are available (shared sometime after registration)
  • 1-Hour training is required (more than 15 sessions are available virtually or in-person to be shared sometime after registration)

Click on the button for the online signup sheet –

Simply view and choose your preferred assignment(s) from any of the “OPEN” slots by clicking on it and then providing your contact information. (Your contact information is private and will not be visible to others on the signup sheet). You are welcome (and encouraged) to sign up for as many slots as you like.

After you sign up, you will receive additional emails with information on app download instructions, training sessions and other details.

Please also be sure to attend one of the required training sessions (in person or virtually) before the census begins. Select the calendar to enlarge to view.

Feel free to contact us with questions, issues, or suggestions in the meantime.

Thank you for considering to be a part of this essential project – more volunteers mean a more accurate count! Feel free to reach out at any time with questions or issues you may have. Please share this opportunity with others who may be interested. We appreciate your support and look forward to a very successful count this year!
