MANATEE COUNTY-A suncoast non-profit serving the homeless, now needs your help. Turning Points of Manatee County is looking for volunteers to help. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, volunteering is trending downwards. Director of volunteer services, Cheryl Hedger says despite added safety measures, the organization’s volunteering is down more than 50% from March through June, when compared to last year. Now, they’re hoping new volunteers step up to keep Turning Points running at capacity.
“They are the heartbeat of this organization,” said Hedger. “If there weren’t volunteers here, we wouldn’t be able to keep doing what we are doing, at least not in the same way.”
