Medical Care

Living outdoors in Florida exposes you to many unique medical problems. Allergies, insect bites, chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes are all exacerbated by the environment you may be forced to stay in. The One Stop Clinic medical services offered by Turning Points are available to help you with primary care and specialty care concerns that you may have.

Supervising physicians from Lake Erie College of Medicine (LECOM) work with fourth year medical students to provide you with high quality medical primary care at our clinic.

Medical specialty services include: Audiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, ENT, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Nephrology, Optometry/Ophthalmology, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Pulmonology.

To be eligible for services you must meet income and residency guidelines. To schedule an appointment with the medical clinic, please call the number above.

Pharmacy Services

LECOM Pharmacy Students with a Supervisory Pharmacist, assist in care coordination for chronic diseases: Diabetes, Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Hypertension and provide Smoking Cessation Classes.

These students help you sign up for prescription assistance programs and work with you to ensure the best possible outcome for your medication use.

They also set-up stations outside the Bill Galvano One Stop Center and at events to measure blood glucose levels and cholesterol levels.

The LECOM Pharmacy and Medical students work side by side to provide the best care for you.

Dental Care

Dentist peforming procedure on patient

Over the weekend you develop a terrible toothache. Your options for care are limited, since you have no dental insurance of any kind and you have limited income. Where to turn? Up until the opening of our One Stop Dental clinic in the fall of 2009, you probably would go to an emergency room – where you might receive a prescription for a pain medication or be directed to take aspirin and try to find someone to see you the next week.

Now you can see a dentist at the Bill Galvano One Stop Center for most of your dental care needs, if you meet eligibility guidelines of residency and income. Our One Stop dental clinic began with volunteer dentists, hygienists, and assistants working 2-3 days a week to meet the critical need of access to dental care.

We continue to recruit dental professionals who are interested in giving back to our community by using their specific skills to treat people in need. We have been fortunate to be awarded grants from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Florida to employ 4 dentists in order to expand our dental services to 5 days a week for the year.

To make an appointment for dental care you will need to call the number above, and speak with a patient care coordinator. Although we do our best to reserve time for emergency walk in clients each day, this may not always be possible, so it is best to call and speak with a patient care coordinator if you need to be seen.

Volunteer With Us

Testimonials

his place is great for people who need help or are going through rough times, they can help with food stamps, clothing, showers, food (to take home for those who have a home, or a meal Mon-Fri), they have computers available to use, they also have housing assistance for those who qualify. There is also a lot more that they do, this place helped me so much when I had nowhere to go.

Went to the One Stop Center and Turning Points today for a tour of the facility - was excellent and informative - if interested, make an appointment - takes about an hour and well worth the time to see all that is going on there - there were clients in all areas - the place was a beehive of activity - a wonderful facility for our community and one of the top in the country - highly recommend checking it out.

Turning points is so awesome. Without them I would not have a wonderful home for my family and I.

I volunteered at the Stand Down held in Palmetto on Nov. 1st. I was so impressed with the services available for the all those in need. There was a separate building just for veterans. I was in that building and saw how they helped the men and women with any paperwork. They serviced breakfast to all and had a bounce house for children. I give this organization an A+.
