BRADENTON – Deja Jordan opened the door to her Bradenton apartment just after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Still in her blue scrubs from work, after toeing a pile of her children’s scattered shoes out of the way, Jordan, 29, walked up the stairs and sat down at the end of a long day.
Jordan is a single mother to three children ages 2, 8 and 9. For nearly two years, she has worked as a medical assistant at a pain management company. And though she works 40 hours a week, Jordan said it is still a struggle to provide for her family with her one income, which the challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic only fueled.
“My mother always taught me there’s always somebody that’s going through something worse than you, so always appreciate the shoes that you’re in, because you don’t want to feel no one else’s,” Jordan said.
