Turning Points Family Receives an Amazing Tech Donation

Updated on September 7th, 2017 Written by Turning Points

Thank you to Ferman BMW and Ferman Chevrolet – Tarpon Springs for donating a computer, all-in-1 printer and 2 years of internet service to Marie and her family. And thank you to Tech Data for donating Microsoft Office software.

Here is Marie’s success story –

Marie was on the verge of homelessness when she received a 3-day eviction notice. She recently received custody of her 3 grandchildren. Before she was granted custody, she was a full-time truck driver and a top earner and spent a lot of time on the road. She needed a new job while she cares for her grandchildren. She had to take a lower paying job that didn’t take her out of town. With this change in employment status she got behind in her rent. She met with a case manager, who spent time with her going through all of her finances. They worked together and found a solution. Turning Points was able to help her get back on track and make her rental payments current. She detailed a plan with the case manager and is on track that this will never happen again.

Then a few weeks back, Angie Angers from Bay News 9 featured Marie and her family in a story about the lack of technology for lower income families and the disadvantages associated with in school. That story touched the hearts of the team at Ferman BMW and Ferman Chevrolet of Tarpon Springs and they wanted to give back to Marie and her family.
