WellCare Awards Turning Points for Their Community Health Investment Program

Updated on June 12th, 2018 Written by Turning Points

Bradenton, FL – WellCare recently awarded Turning Points a $6,900 grant. Turning Points and WellCare are long standing community partners and in December 2017, Turning Points became a grant recipient. This grant’s focus is to track social services being provided to WellCare members who access assistance through both the Open Door Day Resource Center and the Transitional Development Program.

The Open Door Day Resource Center provides a variety of services to registered WellCare members, assisting them with improving their living situation and helping them move along a path of stability and independence. Services range from hot showers, laundry, mail, legal documents, haircuts, clothing, food programs and public assistance application.

The Transitional Development Program provides case management support to individuals and families who are homeless and at risk for homelessness. Budgeting and counseling is provided and clients meeting specific criteria may qualify for funding sources available for sustainable housing, utility, and rental assistance. Turning Points reports monthly to WellCare through the grant collaboration, identifying WellCare members who have accessed services, and tracks each individual service obtained.

“WellCare has been strong community partners with Turning Points for several years and this new grant will be a great benefit to members of our community struggling with healthcare and homelessness”, stated Adell Erozer, Executive Director of Turning Points. Total social services provided to WellCare members since January are 1704.
